July 19 Worship from Home

Prayers and Reflections for July 19, 2020

[This may begin with the lighting of a Candle]

Call to Worship:

From our homes and yards, in print and on screen,
we gather to worship God.
Surely, God is in this place and time!
We come to open ourselves to God’s guidance and love.
Surely God is in this place and time!
Though we are apart, we join with one another
to pray, to praise, and to see God’s presence in our lives.
Surely God is in this place and time!

Opening Prayer:

[Adapted from https://re-worship.blogspot.com/]

God of of all the generations who have come before us - holy is Your name.

We give thanks for your faithful love for all people,

and for the many blessings you have given to us.

Thank you for your faithful presence among us,

even when we are not fully aware of it.

Continue to reveal yourself to us.

Open our eyes to see you here among us;

open our ears to hear Your Word.

For surely, you are with us in this place. Amen.

Offering Prayer:

[from Seasons of the Spirit SeasonsFusion Pentecost 1, 2014, page 88]
With all that we have, and all that we are, we reach out to you,
God of generosity. We ask that you receive these ordinary gifts;
may they be used to offer extraordinary blessings
in our community and world. May these gifts remind us that through you,
all is possible! Amen.

Prayers of Thanksgiving and Intercession:

[Adapted from Seasons of the Spirit Congregational Life Pentecost 1, 2011, page 51-52]

Compassionate God,
for all who struggle with grief or fear, anger or pain,
hear our prayers...
     and in your love, answer.
Guiding God,
for all who face a crossroads, a time of choosing,
hear our prayers...
     and in your love, answer.
Loving God,
for all who find it hard to come into your presence,
or who have found the church non-receptive and ungracious,
hear our prayers...
     and in your love, answer.
Shepherding God,
for all on journeys home, for all setting out on new ways,
for all who feel trapped and unable to move,
hear our prayers...
     and in your love, answer.
May your Spirit be poured on us all,
and may we know that you are always with us. Amen.
