Prayers and Reflections for July 5, 2020

[This may begin with the lighting of a Candle]

Call to Worship:

We are not alone.

God is with us as we worship today.

We live in God's world.

God's love surrounds us through all of life.

Let us take this time to celebrate God's presence.

Opening Prayer:

God of love, while we are in your presence today, remind us of your love.
Help us to find the ways that, while we can not all be together
in Your Church, we can show your love to one another,
that we may be the physical reminders of your love for us through life.
Then lead us to share your love by caring for your world and all people.
May we be the hands and feet of Christ in today's world. Amen.

Prayers of Thanksgiving and Intercession:

Holy God, we thank you that in these times of illness and keeping apart from others,

you have given us ways that we can communicate and be together virtually.

We thank you that you have reached us through the love of others,

for some that being through close family ties

and for others perhaps just brief moments of being cared for.

We thank you for building on that love we have received

and enabling us to grow in the ability to love others.

We bring before you others whom we love.

We ask you to be close to those who are ill in this time and being separated from the loving touch of others.

We ask that you be with those who feel excluded

because of race, culture, religion, sex, sexuality, ability

or any other difference they may feel.

Help us all to find ways to break down all barriers

that all may feel the closeness of your love.

Be with those who live in fear,

in these times we know there are many who fear the insecurity

of lack of income and support. Help us all find ways to support one another.

Be with all of us. Help us live in the security of your love

so we may be enabled and encouraged to reach out in care for others.

Hear the prayers of each of our hearts. - silence – Amen.

Closing

While we extinguish this candle,

we affirm that the light of Christ can never be put out.

May God’s love and grace be with us all.

Amen.
